- My desire is to participate in a reconciliation process with my brothers, who are Elders at UCC. I believe that the leaders of God’s people need to engage in a process that leads to healing (2 Corinthians 5:18).
- My desire is not to eliminate the existence of the Elder Board at UCC. Rather, my goal is to:
- Ensure that Elders are discipled and biblically trained in their role (2 Tim 2:2; 2 Tim 2:15; Matthew 28:18-20),
- Ensure that Elders go through a spiritual discernment process to hear from God (John 16:13; Isaiah 30:21)
- Ensure that Elders read, understand, and accept their responsibilities found in the documents which provide governance for UCC (the bylaws) in order to manage well the finances, the facilities, and personnel concerns effectively and consistently (Colossians 3:23-24) and
- Install Elders via a public ordination ceremony so they can be charged to shepherd God’s sheep (1 Tim 5:22).
- My desire to continue as your Pastor and to rescind my resignation is due to the burden that God has placed on my heart for His church (John 21:16).
Again, my desire for reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18), biblical integrity in our leadership (2 Tim 2:15), and my heart to remain your Pastor has come from much prayer, time with God, and spiritual counsel. We are trusting God for all of our next steps.
